Pool heating and whole-home energy
Pool heating can be a large part of a home's energy use. EnergyFlow treats indoor and outdoor pools as distinct cases, with different geometry, heat exchange and operating assumptions.
Indoor pool
The production indoor-pool path models a pool in a basement zone with a separate pool heating loop and an air system. The pool zone exchanges heat with adjacent house zones through the modeled surfaces. Room humidity and moisture risk are not a complete building-science assessment.
Outdoor pool
An outdoor pool's losses depend on its water surface, weather, cover and operating assumptions. Heating source and auxiliary electricity also affect the result. The exposed pool configuration is not the same model as the indoor pool.
Do not use older example ranges for seasonal savings without checking the current wizard inputs and a reproducible run. Pool covers and schedules can strongly affect energy use.
Outputs, example and package
Inspect modeled pool heating, electricity and interactions with the house. An illustrative comparison could change pool cover or water setpoint while holding the season and weather constant. No seasonal saving is claimed here. Pool modeling is included in both paid plans. Full Project includes scenario comparison and hourly CSV export. See pricing for what each plan includes.
Recovered heat is not free energy
Heat transferred into pool water may reduce another heating load, but the source equipment can still use electricity. Pumps, fans, compressors, backup heat and distribution losses belong in a complete comparison.
