Radiators and heat pumps
Can a heat pump work with existing radiators?
Whether existing radiators can deliver enough heat depends on their size, the room heat loss and the water temperature. A house-wide model can compare supported emitter and flow-temperature assumptions, but it cannot inspect the installed radiators.
What to compare
- The building heat demand at the selected outdoor conditions.
- Radiator or underfloor distribution and its modeled flow temperature.
- Heat-pump performance at those operating conditions.
- Comfort results alongside electricity use.
What still needs a site check
A room-by-room heat-loss calculation and radiator output check are needed to confirm a real installation. The simulation does not certify hydraulic balance, pipework, emitter condition, noise or manufacturer compatibility.
