Heating and cooling comparisons

Compare how supported heating and cooling configurations affect delivered heat, electricity use and modeled indoor temperatures. Keep the building, weather and schedules consistent when comparing options.

What you can describe

  • A manual floor and envelope description with construction-year U-value defaults that can be reviewed and overridden.
  • Heating source and distribution choices exposed by the wizard, including heat pumps, boilers and supported emitter combinations.
  • Heating and cooling setpoints, schedules, shading and ventilation assumptions available in the current configuration.

The available equipment choices depend on the wizard configuration. The model does not certify that a particular system can be installed in a particular house.

Outputs and example question

Review modeled zone temperatures, delivered heating or cooling, equipment electricity and operating cost under the selected tariff. An illustrative comparison could hold the envelope and weather constant, then compare a lower heat-pump flow temperature or add external shading. It is a question to run, not a published outcome.

Package

Heating and cooling are included in both paid plans. Single House includes five successful simulations and one chosen PDF, with no comparison or CSV. Full Project includes unlimited runs and reports subject to fair use. See pricing for what each plan includes.

What to compare

For a heating change, hold comfort settings and hot-water demand steady, then compare purchased fuel and electricity. For summer comfort, compare shading, ventilation and active cooling scenarios while keeping weather and occupancy assumptions visible.

Where the model stops

A floor-average temperature is not a bedroom forecast. Thermal simulation does not establish indoor air quality, acoustic compliance, condensation safety or installation feasibility. Floor cooling requires equipment and control checks by the installer.
