Heating costs

Would a heat pump cost less than gas or oil?

A fair comparison keeps the building, heating comfort and hot-water demand the same. It separates useful heat from purchased fuel or electricity, then applies dated energy prices.

Use a matched baseline

Record the existing boiler or fuel use, efficiency assumptions and tariff. Compare it with a supported heat-pump configuration at the same setpoints and weather. Show backup-heater electricity and hot-water energy separately where modeled.

What belongs in the result

  • Annual delivered heat and purchased fuel or electricity.
  • The electricity tariff, fuel price date and modeled system efficiency.
  • Capital cost, maintenance and subsidy only when supported by separate sourced inputs.

A simulation can compare operating costs under stated assumptions. It cannot establish a universal saving or quote the installed system.
